Aladdin is a unique remake that should have been entertaining but feels empty and forgettable.  Will Smith did his best to fill the shoes of Robin Williams’s Genie, unfortunately he does not live up to the original.

The most off-putting part of this remake to me was the musical pieces.  They don’t seem to match the tones of the scenes they were forced into.  I didn’t mind the unnecessary subplots of the Geni’s romance or Jasmine wanting to lead her kingdom, but both felt forced and didn’t help the overall narrative.

This remake just feels unnecessary and a bit of a cash grab.  I say skip this and watch the original instead.
