Her

In preparation for the upcoming Joker movie staring Joaquin Phoenix, I decided to check out one of his older flicks from 2013. 

Her is set in a near future where a lonely letter writer falls in love with his computer operating system.  The genius of Her is that it is set in the future but is in fact a love story of our time.  Spike Jonze takes the idea of our worlds new social media connections and shows how they may evolve in the future to true relationships.

The movie has an all-star cast featuring Rooney Mara, Chris Pratt, Scarlet Johansson, Bill Hader, and Kristen Wiig.  Scarlet Johansson has zero screen time, but absolutely shines as the OS Samantha. 

Her is weirdly wonderful and will leave you full of feels.  It is sweet, smart, insightful, and thought provoking.  This older movie is definitely worth watching.
