Creed II (IMDB 7.3: Rotten Tomatoes 83%)

I have always been a sucker for a Rocky movie, I know cheesy. Remember though the original Rocky movie won the Academy Award for best picture. Obviously with each installment the quality went down and the story gets repetitive. Doesn’t keep me from continuing to watch them each time a new one comes out and leaving the movie with a smile on my face.

So in 2015 we started to follow the new story of Apollo Creed’s son Adonis with his journey to become a boxer. I was stunned by the first Creed movie especially the way it was shot. It often times felt like you were in the ring with the fighters and experiencing that world a little bit at a time. Stallone was good also in the way he portrayed the struggle of fighting cancer.

Now comes the second installment. I have to say I enjoyed the last story of Rocky (according to Stallone) and although a once again very predictable outcome, I still left the movie with a smile on my face. The story of underdog always encourages me and that is what I am looking for in a movie. Something that lifts your spirits and makes you feel better then when you started. This one was not shot nearly as well in my opinion and I have to say that it is probably time for this story to end. Having said all that, I still enjoyed it and would recommend it.  Not winning any awards except for the best boxing movie of the year, I still give this a Downey Jr.
